Dry Eyes (Sicca Syndrome)

The production of protective lacrimal fluid is reduced. There can be many causes, e.g. dry air in air-conditioned rooms or in airplanes, computer work, watching TV for hours on end, taking of certain medicines, environmental pollution and more.

More and more people complain of gritty, burning or tired eyes. A feeling of dryness, sensitiveness of light and conjunctivitis are frequent symptoms of dry eyes.

Dry eyes are not just unpleasant and annoying but a disease that can cause a considerable reduction of life quality. An intact tear film is necessary for unobstructed vision and for protecting the cornea.

Dry eyes are treated successfully with eye iontophoresis combined with the use of lipid sprays in Bad Hall.
