Specks in the Eye – Floaters – Vitreous Clouding

As one gets older or if one is suffering from severe myopia (short-sightedness) a harmless but disturbing symptom evolves: vitreous clouding. Translucent specks float around the vitreous gel with eye movements.

Looking like cobwebs or floating mosquitoes, floaters become especially apparent when looking at something evenly bright, such as a white wall. Long-term they tend to float downwards and are not perceived as being disturbing.

After finishing eye iontophoresis treatments in Bad Hall patients frequently report that their vitreous clouding has improved and is less disturbing.
