Pfarrkirchen
The village of Pfarrkirchen delights in welcoming those who come to visit their outstanding rococo-style church with its lavish stuccoworks, frescoes and altarpieces. The church was erected in 1179 and was consecrated to St. George. In 1744, this “Rococo Gem” was refurbished by Abbot Alexander III who was born in Pfarrkirchen. The wonderful fresco paintings were created by artist Wolfgang Andreas Heindl; the elaborate tabernacle is said to be the skilled work of Master Balthasar Melber from Enns.
The 17th century Feyregg Castle is worthwhile as is the Tassilo Spring, the region’s oldest iodine brine source by the Sulzbach River.
